Email from Global-I’m trying to put some emotion into our “story”, particularly for internal consumption. In this particular instance, our leaders are gathering here in a few weeks for the annual Invensys Leadership meeting, and for the IA Leadership Meeting. For the latter, we need to be able to tell the Invensys IA story from an emotional angle---not just a strategy, business level.

Accordingly, I’m looking to try and get 6-7, what I call “Golden Stories” that illustrate the end result of what we do. It’s all well and good to say we serve 25 percent of this industry and 50 percent of that one, but what is it we do that makes a difference in the world and in the lives of people.

This story won me USD 25! haaa.

Life is better with IPS

Ashah Mohammad Bin Lidin is the village headman of Pulo village situated in East Java, a farming viallge. As he sits in his living room, his young daughter plays on stacked bags of rice.

“I grew up studying using candle lights at night and walking for 2 hours to school. Now, life has become so much more convenient – clean water from communal water points, farming machinery, light at a flip of the switch and even a television,” says Ashah Mohammad Bin Lidin
"The water is much better now," Andah explains. "In our previous homes we had to use a bucket in a shallow well. Now we have water that we can drink."
Through the emergence of power and production plants, the daily livings of these people in Pulo have improved significantly.

Over the course of the past two years, all of Pulo's 70 homes were provided with electrical supplies although it was not connected to the general power grid. This resulted in both electricity and access to water for the 334 community members—services many had been without previously.

Presently, in Indonesia there are still 88.8 million or 40 percent of the population still living without electricity in the world’s fourth most populous country.

In recent years, the Indonesian government has taken much effort to expand the country’s power generation capacity. Dubbed the “10,000MW Crash Program” and announced in 2004, Indonesia aims to add 10,000MW of new capacity by 2010.

Having provided services to several of Indonesia’s utilities companies to automate power plants, refineries and oil and gas production plants over the last 35 years, IPS is once again delivering key energy and utilities infrastructure to meeting growing and critical demands from needy citizens.

IPS is working closely with five power plants on behalf of Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN Persero), Indonesia’s largest electricity producer to provide critical automation upgrades. These power plants located in Banten, Jawa Barat, Jawa Tengah and Jawa Timur, representing some 3,820 megawatts of power generation capacity.
