loving the blesser not just the blessing || Tuesday, July 26, 2005 11:16 PM

you know was reading "drawing near" by john bevere..and its so interesting about how when God brought the isrealites out of egypt,
what was the purpose of it?
many of us would ans: so they could get out of bondage into the land of freedom: overflowing with milk and honey.
but yet it says that the real reason was that GOD wanted to bring them out of bondage so that they could have an intimate relationship with him ( u see this also in the new testament with Jesus)
where was moses headed for when he left egypt? was it the promised land immediately?
NO! Moses was headed for mount horeb or mount sinai (this was the place where he had encountered God). he wanted the rest of the isrealite congregation to have as close a relationship with God as he did.He wanted them to encounter GOD just as he did..
you know to all my frens who have never encountered GOD before..this is my deepest desire for u, that you would know GOD the way i have, that u would experience HIM in the same way, that u would felt his touch just as I have..
Do we love the promise more than the promiser?
ex 7:16 says "let my pple go, so they may worship me in the desert"
it didnt say "let my pple go do they can have a land to dwell in"
God desires our fellowship..
just as we do for a long-lost fren, for a companion, for a lover, for a bro/sis to share with
Do we love the blessing more than the blesser?
many a times when sis mingli shared about loving god for who he is instead of what he can do.i'd always have this immediate HEART Check! do i love god for who he is? or for what he can do for me? its the big difference between being moses and being a complaining isrealite in the wilderness..
and much of the old testament, the group of isrealites in the desert is a pic of the church,,,,
we preach what jesus can do for us more than preach who he is...
Lord! i pray that i might be able to tell others who u really are! TO know u intimately not becos of yr blesser but to love u bcos of who u are.
god's main purpose of delivering us from sin was so we could know him.
can u imagine :: a guy goes all out to win the love of a gal..
and then when the gal finally is won over, all she wants is the presents and benefits he can give..
its the same with GOD, jesus won us over at the cross, are we willing to love him back?

ts with a cry of repentance that we gotta examine our hearts, how do we perceive god?
he always as a giver and we the getters?

u know now im reading JOB and i think, if i were made to suffer as much as he did, to lose his possessions, family, inflicted with disease, mocked by wife and frens...
would i still love GOD?
its suffering that purifies our faith..but even now as we are yet young, life is easy going...lets be sure to build up our faith, that when time of testing comes..we may pass..
and JESUS would at the end say:: "well done! good and faithful servant."

love,
